Welp, I've been away from livejournaling for quite a while and was thinking of returning... only to find out that livejournal has kind of imploded. So... as soon as I can figure out how to back up my entire lj to here, I will be here permanently.

Let me know if you know how to do it, btw.

Hi [livejournal.com profile] daf9! Finally done! Sorry this took way, way longer than I’d thought when it started. It just kept growing.

“So where’s your beloved?” Alicia asked as George, Fred and Angelina stepped into the Common Room. George glanced around automatically but of course Alicia wouldn’t say something like that if there was any risk. Katie and Alicia were alone in the room and George could hear the faint buzzing of a White Noise Spell.

[livejournal.com profile] daf9, I’m truly sorry for how long it’s taken to get this up. The rest is mostly written, and should be up by the end of the month.

Whoa. I had no idea it had been quite so long since the last time I posted.

Um, OK, so two three things:

  1. Any Harry Potter fandom folks still reading this? Anybody feel like betaing the first half of a long-overdue fanfic? It's George/Lee.

  2. Check out Snowgall's STATS FOR ALL HDS_BELTANE FESTS, 2007-2015. Guess who's the wordiest and has two thumbs?

  3. I, uh, had been writing a Captain America fanfic when I started the George/Lee, and ended up finishing it... and writing a bunch of companion fics, mostly standalone one-shots. They're all done now (almost) but rather than cut and paste them all here, I'm going to post a listing of them on AO3 and send anybody who wants to read them over in that direction.

AO3 does this awesome thing where you can put fics into a series and they're all gathered together like ducklings. Bless AO3.

So, [livejournal.com profile] chibitoaster, a very prolific fan artists (and artist in real life) who is trying to save her house, has offered to do drawings as part of her fundraising. I jumped at the chance (she did some amazing work for Bond) and she went and took a look at Don't Ask, Don't Tell and...

  1. Cover:
    http://www.chibitoaster.com/2015/DADT/DADT_cover.jpg

  2. The scene where Steve offers to basically throw himself under the bus for Bucky when going before Phillips, and tells the men to leave Bucky out of it:

    http://www.chibitoaster.com/2015/DADT/DADT_confrontation.jpg

  3. This is the scene after the barn collapsed with Bucky on the roof - hospital scene. "Thank You."

  4. And from 'Cause I Can't Chase You, First Kiss:

Remember, this is part of the GoFundMe to save her house. She has until the end of the month to come up with the purchase price, and is offering artist services to do that.

http://chibitoaster.livejournal.com/235217.html

Also, I've signed up for the fundraiser at

http://fans4fans.livejournal.com/501.html

with people offering projects/fics/drawings, so if anyone wants a short story from me, give me a shout.

I'm offering pretty much any Harry Potter pairing (though I've written mostly Harry/Draco, Harry/Ron, Harry/Ginny, Draco/Astoria, George/Lee and George/Angelina, so if you ask for Filch/Hagrid it'll be a bit of a challenge) and for MCU I'm thinking mostly Steve-centred pairings. Clint/Coulson might be doable too.

Nope, it's not for me. I've been away from livejournal for a while and had no idea, but apparently [livejournal.com profile] chibitoaster, who did all the amazing illustrations for Bond (here along with other H/D illustrations), is doing a GoFundMe to save her house. She has until the end of the month to come up with the purchase price, and is offering artist services too.

Go take a look. Help out if you can. She's a wonderful artist. And as I said I've been under a rock because I had no idea she was now also into Avengers Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes! Which I've, I dunno, only written like 71,373 words in 4 fics for. So now I'm going through and looking at all the pretty pretty chibitoaster Steve/Bucky.

Edit: Oh! There's also a fundraiser at

http://fans4fans.livejournal.com/501.html

with people offering projects/fics/drawings.

So, I… kept meaning to put my onoing Avengers WIP on here, and kept updating it on AO3, and kinda never got around to posting it here past the fourth chapter or so. I'm still updating! Totally still updating. Just sent the 15th chapter off for beta, only one (possibly two) chapters to go. But I think it may be time to admit to myself that I may never actually post it to here, what with already posting onto AO3 and The Pit of Voles fanfiction.net.

Yes, I suck.

Anyway. I'll post a listing of all the chapters posted onto AO3, for anyone who was still curious and doesn't subscribe to any of the dozen or so Avengers fic communities I post links to.

That's not what I wanted to post about today, though.

Guys. Guys. My kid, the elder one, is writing fanfic. And while I cannot understand half of what he writes about because he's posting in the Dota 2 fandom and what I know about Dota 2 could be painlessly etched onto my tongue, he's started an Avengers fanfic!

Title: Loki Lie-smith
Author: Stylus of Gold (he said something like, "I wanted to pick the most pretentious authorname EVER.")
Fandom: Avengers
Characters: Loki (so far)
Summary: As I fell from grace and Asgard into disgrace and the void, I lost more than my claim to kingship of Asgard: I lost my name. No longer Loki Odinson, I am now simply Loki. Loki Lie-smith.

He's new at this. Needs a bit of work on formatting. Is starting out in tiny, tiny fandoms. But gets ridiculously excited when somebody reviews or "faves" his work, and oh wow, it's like watching him take his first wobbly steps all over again. Except, you know, online.

A plea

Hey... anybody out there willing to beta?

I've got this Steve/Tony WIP, Not About Superheroes. It's 16 chapters long; posted up to chapter 8, written & ready to beta up to chapter 12, and almost done writing to the end. I wouldn't need a commitment for every single chapter that's left; if you all you could do was one chapter, that would be absolutely awesome. I'm just kinda freaking out because my totally awesome beta, [livejournal.com profile] scrtkpr, who's been more like a co-writer than a beta so far, really really cannot keep betaing and... ::sounds of barely controlled panic::

Help? Please?
annafugazzi: (Feed me soup)
Whoa. I've been updating over at AO3, and on a bunch of Avengers communities, but somehow totally forgot about updating my own journal. Ugh. Am a twit.

Title: Not About Superheroes (A Private Little War), Chapter 5
Universe: Marvel Movies
Characters: Steve/Tony, Clint, Natasha, Bruce
Words: in this chapter,
Rating: R
Warning(s): Dark stuff? And abuse of Academy-award winning movies
Summary: In less than a year, Steve has been brought back from the dead, adapted to a whole new world, plunged right back into battle again, and moved in with a bunch of superheroes. He's handling everything remarkably well. Except when he's not.
Notes: Thanks so much to [livejournal.com profile] scrtkpr, TheKinkyPet, and CariZee for beta!!

annafugazzi: (Feed me soup)
OK, so, I do have other Avengers fics to rec, and also a couple of chapters of my own wipfic to post here in addition to AO3, but here's a rec I've been meaning to put up for a while, written for this year's [livejournal.com profile] cap_ironman Reverse Big Bang:

Incursion by [livejournal.com profile] scrtkpr
Universe: Marvel (Comics), Marvel 616, New Avengers (Comics), Avengers (Comics)
Rating: Teen And Up
Pairing: Steve/Tony
Warning(s): None
Summary: When Steve and Tony are taken down in the heart of Avengers Tower by alternate versions of themselves, their counterparts reveal a threat to both the foundations of the multiverse and to the foundations of Steve and Tony's friendship.
Excerpt: “So,” said Tony, drawing everyone’s attention. He made eye contact with the other two, but not with Steve. “Always a little awkward, trying to shift gears from nonconsensual bondage to science-themed playdate. But you do this all the time, is that right? Any suggestions for smoothing the transition?”

Squeee Rec: Yes, [livejournal.com profile] scrtkpr wrote again!!! And it's lovely! And, take it from a comics newbie, you don't have to know anything about what's going on in comicworld to adore the story. Though I'm told if you do, it's even more awesome :D :D

rambling )
annafugazzi: (Feed me soup)
OK, I haven't done one of these in a long, long time, but here goes!

  • Title: Riches Ready to Drop Upon Me
    Author: [livejournal.com profile] birdsofshore
    Fandom: Harry Potter
    Pairing: Draco/Harry
Summary: During the nights that follow his trial, Draco dreams as never before.
    Rating: PG-13
    Word count: ~1400
Rec: I thought of putting in excerpts from the dreams themselves, because they're awesome, but that would be denying people the delight of reading them in context and going, "Oh hey I KNOW that one!!"

This apparently started as crackfic, and it is that, but it's also unexpectedly sweet and touching. It's like... a sweet, cracky love letter to fandom. Even if you've kinda left the fandom? Read it.
Excerpt: During the nights that follow his trial, Draco dreams as never before. His body lies blamelessly, resting exhausted between freshly-laundered cotton sheets, while his mind adventures to scenes so preposterous that, on waking, he can hardly believe his own nerve.

  • Title: His Father's Son
    Author: [livejournal.com profile] rickey_a
    Fandom: Harry Potter
    Pairing(s): Scorpius/Albus Severus, Draco/Astoria (implied)
Summary: Scorpius Malfoy tries to find his own way in the world.
    Rating: NC-17
    Word count: ~7,200
Warnings/Spoilers: Ack, I don't remember how to do this without accidentally revealing it to everyone with a different colour scheme than me. She provides them on her story.
Rec: I read this one when it came out even though I'm not that much into darkfics. I was... stunned. It's one of [livejournal.com profile] rickey_a's best fics, IMHO, and she's written a lot of good fics. She mentioned somewhere that it hadn't received as much readership as some of her others and I can only guess that people were put off by the darkfic label.

Which is too bad, because to be honest, even though it's got a lot of painful in it, it's also beautiful. I ended it feeling simultaneously heartbroken, relieved, and uplifted, which was a really weird combination. Went in expecting evil and hatred and found... well, I won't spoil it.

    Seriously, read it.
Excerpt: "I didn't want to be in the same house as my father either. People are always telling me how much I look like him."

"Yeah. Me too," Scorpius replies ruefully. "I'm me. You know? It's not really fair. Anyway, I'm going to be as different from him as I can possibly be."

  • Title: Sway
    Author/Artist: Not Applicable
    Fandom: Avengers
    Pairing/Characters: Bruce Banner/Steve Rogers
    Rating: NC-17
Genre: Hook-up story, romance with angsty feels
    Word Count: 27686
Warnings: N/A. Just two fully cognizant adults participating in consensual acts.
Summary: I can hear the sound of violins / long before it begins
"I know you’re still finding your way around the 21st century, and I know that when you were young it wasn’t as easy for…you probably got used to playing along to some degree."
Rec: I beta'd this! To be honest, I had not read a lot of Steve/Bruce, but the premise drew me in and the pairing started to make more and more sense. And, much as I adore fics where Steve Rogers is an all-around perfect human being (because in canon he is pretty gosh darn awesome and wholesome) a fic in which he's a human being who makes boneheaded mistakes but remains essentially a good person is always a delight to read :) :) :)
    Excerpt: “It’s a classic.”

“Well, I kind of remember you describing it as ‘panty peeler,’ and it most certainly wasn’t.”

Tony and Clint fell into a chorus of empathetic yowls. “No, no, oh no!” Tony cried, and he waved his drink in the air for effect. “I can’t believe it – I cockblocked Captain America.”

  • Title: Family Old and New
    Author: Pookaseraph
Fandom: Marvel 616, Marvel (Comics), Captain America (Comics)
    Rating: Mature
    Pairing: None
    Words: 33,219
Summary: When Ian Rogers finally comes to Earth from Dimension Z, his father is in no state to help him adjust, which leaves him relying on the Avengers, unable to forget the violence of his home, and hiding the secret he's sure they will hate him for.
Rec: I read this by accident - as in, clicked on the wrong button. Best accident I've made in I don't know how long.

I'm also a complete newbie when it comes to Marvel Comics. I'm (almost) strictly MCU, because the comics confuse me with their endless references to events I've never read and characters I've never met. And I'd never read the current Captain America, because at $4/issue, it's just a little pricey for me.

Didn't matter. Like, at all. Having now read Captain America 7 (yes, this fic made me cave!) I can tell that there's all sorts of stuff that's richer and more meaningful, but honestly upon first (and second and third) read, I had no idea I was missing anything. Ian and Tony's interactions, and Ian's thoughts about Steve, are just beautiful. He's such an incredibly well-drawn character, and Tony's - and everyone else's - reactions to him are so very, very IC.
Excerpt: One of Tony's best friends in the world was lying on a emergency bed, and Tony had just watched said friend push away his most prized possession into the hands of a kid who had called Steve 'dad' and Steve had called 'son'. To say he was a bit shaken up was an understatement, but part of being in charge of the Avengers at the moment was standing up and not collapsing in a ball of terror whenever things weren't looking so hot. He took a few steps over to where the kid was huddled, clinging to the shield like a lifeline, head bowed down against the edge of it, weeping.
