Anti-gay marriage amendments

I'm convinced such amendments will eventually be declared unconstitutional, just like interracial marriage, but it's not going to happen anytime soon. Until then, gay couples will have to make other legal arrangements - and they should.

I'm concerned about the already existing marriages, though. Are they going to be declared null and void now? Where I'm from, this would be considered retroaction, which is not legal.
