hd_worldcup: And they're off! (AKA The Fool), and sad news

• So, it's April Fool's, and the first postings are up over at hd_worldcup. I dithered over how to rec fics for this. Rec only things I like, regardless of team? Rec everything by my team, regardless of whether I liked it or not? Rec only what I like on my team? Provide a squee for things I liked and a simple link for everything else?
  
  Every decision seemed fraught with potential drama. Unintentionally hurting a team member. Unintentionally hurting a friend on another team. Outing myself if I post glowing blurbs about every entry on my team but mine. Yadda yadda yadda.
  
  Here's my solution: link to everything, no recs till after the reveal. Cowardly? Yes. I sort to Ravenclaw every single time I do one of those sorting memes.
  
  By the way, for those who don't know, the prompts for this year are tarot cards. The first prompt, appropriately enough for April Fool's, is The Fool.

• Happy April Fool's, everyone. Including George Weasley, who turns thirty today. Hopefully after the first few rather rocky years, he would be able to celebrate the day again.
  
  
• As many of you have already heard, anjenue died in a car accident on March 30. I didn't know her at all, but from what her friends have said, she was a lovely, talented person, and will be very much missed. More information can be found here. There is also a community at we_love_you_anj to post memories of anjenue and condolences to her family.
  
  ::hugs:: to all who knew her. Losing a friend, even if you never heard her voice, is never easy. My thoughts are with you all.

I am also copping out on recs, but in the opposite direction given that already my f-list is swamped with world cup posts! I've decided not to rec anything. Some of it is about ensuring I don't hurt feelings, especially given that I've already seen quite a few fics (!)

LOL! You have no idea how hard it was to find this comment - I read it, made a mental note to reply, then forgot who had sent it and which entry it was attached to and had to wade through my lj comments to find it. And of course almost all of my lj comments are replies to fic chapter posts. And what's at the top of every single chapter I post? "Thanks to scrtkpr for beta!" So I couldn't even filter out the comments that didn't use that word ::facepalm::

Anyway, lemme see... I don't have anything right now, but there is the final chapter of Ember that will hopefully be done really soon. Would you mind? Scrtkpr's been a totally amazing beta, but it never hurts to have more than one person's feedback.
