annafugazzi: (OMG)
Right, I mentioned I'm trying to get myself organized? Been finding all sorts of things I've posted some places but not others, with no rhyme or reason I can discern for where they went or didn't go. Am trying to get the mess straightened out.

Gimme a break, my first fandom was so small, there were only about three BNFs, and I knew all of them. Some days I still feel like a small town girl in the big city ;)

Author's Notes: This fic was written for hd_worldcup 2008, for Team Epilogue, Tarot card prompt "The Fool." Thanks so much to Owensmom, Irishmommy, Calanthe, and Twisted Miracle for extensive beta, Britpick, and, sometimes, entire passages ;)

Warning: This fic is probably the piece I've written that has received the most negative reviews ever. It even unwittingly helped spawn a wankfest that eventually made it all the way to fandomwank, w00t!

'Course, lots of other folks did like it (including me - though of course, I'm a bit biased ;)), but don't think you're weird if you don't like it, because hey! You're in good company :D :D

Also: Draco's wife was referred to as Astoria Greengrass by JRK in an interview, but then the family tree she drew seemed to show the name as Asteria. I chose Asteria because Astoria makes me think of a hotel, and then I think of Paris Hilton, and then it's all downhill from there.

I'm a little hesitant about posting this because it's a lot like a Director's Commentary thingy. I've tried to watch the ones for LOTR so many times, and they're unbelievably soporific. Love them, really interested in what they have to say, but they knock me out within ten minutes every time.

Posting it anyway. If you choose to read, have soft things nearby, so when you fall asleep you won't bruise yourself ;)

So, yeah, Riptide. Which I wrote.

Has got to be the most responded-to thing I've ever written, at least on a per-word basis. Bond got more comments, but it's a monster and has been up for years now, so it doesn't count. I started writing down my thoughts after some of the comments Riptide got and it kinda... grew. ::blinks in dismay:: And kept growing. And by now, OMG it even needs a Table of Contents ::facepalm:: Read only the parts that interest you :)

Note: Draco's wife was referred to as Astoria Greengrass by JRK in an interview, but then the family tree she drew seemed to show the name as Asteria. I chose Asteria because Astoria makes me think of a hotel, and then I think of Paris Hilton, and then it's all downhill from there.

Reveals! Are up!

And Team Epilogue won!!!11! Holy [censored]!

Must say, I am not at all surprised that the voting was ridiculously close (ten points between team #1 and #4, apparently). I didn't get to read many of them (::glowers darkly at Bar::), but was following the reccage and it seemed pretty evenly split. Have about twenty fics, from all the teams, marked "Must Read" dangling before me as a prize after the exam. And the artwork, which I did see, was out of this world amazing, again pretty evenly acrosss the board.

And hey teammates! ::high fives you all:: Great working with y'all :) :)

OK, I think that's enough abuse of exclamation points for one post, now back to studying.
annafugazzi: (Default)
  • ...if I've been even slower to answer comments/e-mails than normal. Brain is being eaten alive by &*^%ing bar exam readings. House => filthy, children => joyous (as they're essentially on holiday and they're eating a lot of pizza), eyes => red.

  • Last day to guess fics/art at [livejournal.com profile] hd_worldcup, as tomorrow's the Big Reveal :)

  • I would love to give a bunch of recs. Sadly, I have read very few of the fics. But! [livejournal.com profile] gossymer is a much better reader and a much better person than I, and you can see her recs/comments here: http://gossymer.livejournal.com/tag/fests

Lots of other folks who are also better readers/persons than I have also been reccing, and if I had more time and less legal/academic crap to read, I would link you to their rec posts. Instead I'll just mention them:

    [livejournal.com profile] ayes_sid, [livejournal.com profile] coffeejunkii, [livejournal.com profile] frantic_mice, [livejournal.com profile] marguerite_26, [livejournal.com profile] painless_j, [livejournal.com profile] ravenqueen55, [livejournal.com profile] romaine_24, and [livejournal.com profile] winnett.

BTW, I didn't even compile that list; [livejournal.com profile] anthimaeria did, here. Hers has direct links, too.

I know I missed a few, so if you made recs and would like me to post them, please let me know! This ain't the Daily Snitch of [livejournal.com profile] hd_prophet, but last I checked I had... ::checking:: good Lord! 287 people on my flist, so somebody might read it :)

    For example: http://vaysh11.livejournal.com/11450.html
First two weeks of hd_worldcup: http://vaysh11.livejournal.com/8748.html

  • Prince Caspian? ::swoon::

  • If anybody can explain the following paragraph to me, I will give them my firstborn:

Although the names of the first directors and the address and place of the registered office are included in articles of incorporation under the OBCA, a change in the directors or in the address of the registered office within the municipality or geographic township where the registered office is located or a change in the municipality or geographic township in which its registered office is located to another place in Ontario does not require an amendment to the articles.

Come to think of it, gift of firstborn might not be a big draw; he's too few moons shy of encroaching surly teenagehood. Secondborn, then.

OK, everything's been posted now. Voting will be going on for another week, and the Big Reveals will take place Sunday after next. As far as I know. Correct me if I'm wrong, please?

Anyway here's a handy-dandy little display of all the stories and art posts for Team Epilogue. If you want to play the guessing game and match authors/artists to entries, go ahead!

The writers on our team (in alphabetical order) were [livejournal.com profile] _pinkchocolate, [livejournal.com profile] acromantular, [livejournal.com profile] annafugazzi, [livejournal.com profile] chaeldub, [livejournal.com profile] ennyousai, [livejournal.com profile] femmequixotic, [livejournal.com profile] frayach, [livejournal.com profile] confusedkayt, [livejournal.com profile] kabal42, [livejournal.com profile] meri_oddities, [livejournal.com profile] klynie1, [livejournal.com profile] lesyeuxverts00, [livejournal.com profile] mahaliem, [livejournal.com profile] malachic, [livejournal.com profile] noticeably, [livejournal.com profile] novembersnow, [livejournal.com profile] nqdonne, and [livejournal.com profile] scoradh.

Our artists were [livejournal.com profile] jin_fenghuang, [livejournal.com profile] plotting_pen, [livejournal.com profile] red_rahl, [livejournal.com profile] ships_harry, and [livejournal.com profile] twilightsorcery.

And our Team Captain was [livejournal.com profile] nqdonne, who deserves a big cheer!

I can now give you two hints as to the identity of my entry: it was a story, not a piece of art, and it has already been posted ;)

BTW, does anybody know how long the voting goes on? And when the Big Reveal will be? I've had three people ask me so far and I'm beginning to feel like a bit of an idiot not knowing ;)

Guess me

Right! Keep meaning to do this, then forget. Brain like sieve.

There's this sort of meme-thingy, where participants in the [livejournal.com profile] hd_worldcup challenge their flists to guess which entry they wrote, then promise prizes for the first one to do so (eg a drabble of your choice, icon, etc). I'd like to do it. Without the promising part of the prize thing, seeing as how I'm a tad up to my derriere in alligators in both RL and ficlife right now. 'Cause I'm curious. Because right now the most thrilling things I'm reading look like this:

The test as to whether or not the consideration is "conspicuously" greater or less than fair market value is an objective one. Courts have found "conspicuous" to mean "remarkable" and "noteworthy" or "striking", "manifest", "notable" or "flagrant". For example, a difference of $1 million between the fair market value and the consideration received by the bankrupt has been found to be conspicuous.

And if you were trying to memorize crap like that, wouldn't you want to be distracted by people guessing what you wrote?

So yeah, if you think you know which [livejournal.com profile] hd_worldcup Team Epilogue fic I wrote, let me know! Of course I won't be able to say yes or no until the reveal, and in fact, I can't even tell you whether my fic has already gone up or not as there are still three more postings to go, but hey. Give it a shot :)
annafugazzi: (Default)
Which set is this? I think it's the fifteenth. Yes? No? I cannot say; am experiencing Brain Death by Bar Exam.

Anyway, whichever number this is, here's the [livejournal.com profile] hd_worldcup entries for The Hermit. Enjoy!

  • A Caller in the Storm - Team Fanon

    Rating: PG
Summary: Harry has left the Wizarding World for good and is living in a hut in Lake District. Life is calm and good, and Harry thinks he finally has everything he needs, but a caller in storm that rages one night might change everything.
Author's Note: I'd like to thank the amazing Team FANON. Special thanks goes to F (I wouldn't have managed to do this without you!) and to Y, who was wonderful beta-reader!

  • To the Sheer Love of Madness - Team EWE
    Wordcount: 23,000
    Rating: R
Summary: Voldemort was gone. The Death Eaters were gone. Unfortunately, Harry Potter's mind was gone as well.

  • Equal Vows - Team Epilogue
    Wordcount: 21K
    Rating: hard R
Warnings: infidelity, forced bonding (of a sort)
Summary: Harry learns to act without Dumbledore's guidance. Draco is lost without Snape, and will do anything to get his mentor back.
Author's Note: I used the literal meaning of the prompt and the Tarot interpretation, the hermit as a guide or mentor. Huge thanks to my betas, who made all the difference.

  • The Hermit - Team Canon
    Wordcount: 16,000
    Rating: NC-17/Adult
    Warnings: Explicit sex
    Summary:
Author's Note: The Hermit: "Withdrawal, acting alone... Difficulty connecting with the world or other people," i.e. 6th year Draco, carried forward into this story, while Harry is reversed: integral to his society

...sure wish I could enjoy them. But no, instead I'm reading about case conferences and jurisdiction over Family Law matters and work product privilege and where to file a notice of objection now that it is no longer mandatory to obtain a CRA Form T400A "Objection - Income Tax Act". Just, like, kill me now.
annafugazzi: (Default)

    Rating: PG-13

    Rating: PG-13/Teen
    Warnings: Blood imagery
Artist's Note: Flash required to view the image.

Summary: Draco's hiding and living away from the Wizarding World. Harry wants to know why.

Summary: Severus sends Draco to the only place that he can be safe.

  • Day of the Dead - Team Epilogue
    Wordcount: ~18k
    Rating: NC-17
    Warnings: Infidelity
Summary: On the evening of the anniversary of the war, everything changed.
Author's Note: Death represents destruction of the old clearing the way for new growth. I used both figurative and literal interpretations. Thanks to my teammates for their invaluable last minute help!

  • Nothing Ventured (Nothing Lost) - Team Canon
    Wordcount: 5000
    Rating: NC-17
    Warnings: Some violence.
Summary: Feelings are purest in the hours of meeting and farewell.
Author's Note: Betas, thank you. <3 I hope the shade of Jean Paul Richter doesn't mind me eviscerating one of his thoughts for use in my summary.

Oh and before I forget, I googled myself recently and found this:

http://www.blogged.com/blogs/anna-fugazzi.html

Does anybody know what this is? It looks like a blog of blogs, but I'm stumped as to its function, origin... or anything about it, actually. Also: how did I get on there?

  • Lamp in the Cooling Room - Team EWE
    Wordcount: ~9000
    Rating: R

    Rating: PG-13
    Warnings: Infidelity, cheating, angst
Summary: Who knew a single letter could change so much?
Author's Note: Hugs to Team Epilogue, especially N and L, without which this fic would be considerably worse. Interpretation of card is literal and tarot.
Disclaimer: Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy and all associated characters from the Harry Potter universe are the property of J.K. Rowling and those to whom she has licensed her creations, including without limitation Bloomsbury Books, Scholastic Books, Raincoat Books, and Warner Bros., Inc. Third set of pics at hd_worldcup! The prompt is The Suit of Swords.

And, um, wow. All of the art posts so far have had some truly breathtaking pieces, but IMHO this one takes the cake.

  • These Five Years - Team Fanon
    Rating: NC-17
    Warnings: Dub-con, angst, bodily fluids.
Summary: Harry hurt because he loved. Draco loved even if it hurt.
Artist's Note: flashback = black and white. This is my first attempt at flashy movies, and I had too much fun making it. If it doesn't load properly, you might need the most recent flash plug-in.

  • SWORDS - What the North Wind Brings - Team EWE
