[livejournal.com profile] rickey_a will be doing a wrap-up post on [livejournal.com profile] hp10k_showcase in the next few days, listing all authors the artists and their stories/pictures & causes. The one below has a few more bits (summaries, etc) and therefore takes up more space and apparently is not compatible with everyone's lj layouts.

Nevertheless, here it is :)

Big Old Table of Fics and Pics and Causes )
annafugazzi: (Default)
  1. Title: In Search of Power
    Author: [livejournal.com profile] sesheta_66
    Pairings: Harry/Draco
    Rating: PG-13
    Warnings: None
    Word Count: ~10,300
Summary: "There is no good and evil, there is only power ... and those too weak to seek it." ~ Lord Voldemort
Author's notes: Many thanks to my beta, [livejournal.com profile] gabe_speaks, the ladies at ismith, and the other [livejournal.com profile] hp10k_showcase participants for their help and support with this story.

I am writing to raise awareness for: Mental Health Issues.

Illustrated by [livejournal.com profile] raitala, drawing to raise awareness of Mental Health Issues. The illustration is rated G.

    Excerpt: "Cute, Malfoy," Harry interjected.

"Why Potter, I didn't think you'd noticed." He beamed as he laid a hand on Harry's arm and leaned in to speak so only Harry could hear. "As nicely as you've filled out"—he squeezed Harry's bicep for emphasis—"I'm sorry to say that business must come first." Malfoy ran his hand down the length of Harry's arm and gave him a thorough once-over. "Perhaps when this case wraps up?"

Harry opened his mouth to reply, a bit shell-shocked at this turn of events, but Malfoy turned to Ron before he had a chance to do … well, anything but look stunned.

Rec: This is already a good mystery/thinky-thoughts piece, but the Harry-Ron-Draco interactions are what make this story (notice the three names aren't slashed!) so very very good.

  2. Title: And Save Me From Bloody Men
    Author: [livejournal.com profile] blamebrampton
    Pairings: Harry/Draco (story quite Draco-centric)
Rating: R – mild gay sex, language
Warnings: Largely set in a dystopian US of the sort favoured by James Cameron (though without Terminators), slight case of the Margaret Atwoods.
    Word Count: 10,000
Summary: Draco Malfoy once watched others fighting to stop the world falling apart. This time, he’s not just watching.
Author's notes: This story contains a great deal of gruesome politics, small amounts of romance, and barely any comedy. Thanks so much to raitala for being the smarter part of the shared brain. And to jadzialove, pingrid, pseudicide and the dead sexy hp10K set for beta-ing, Canadiapicking and Ameripicking

I am writing to raise awareness for: Oxfam!
Illustrated by [livejournal.com profile] raitala, drawing to raise awareness of Mental Health Issues. The illustration is rated PG.

Excerpt: Ernie Macmillan was there. He saw me, grimy and tired in the crowd, and came to me.

‘I want to fight,’ I said, before he could open his mouth. ‘I want to help.’

He nodded. He took my arm and led me to a town library, filled with our people. He whistled for attention, and when he had it, he announced, ‘This is Draco Malfoy. He was at the Battle of Hogwarts with me.’ Afterwards he told me that he couldn’t see the point in mentioning which side.

Rec: I'm a sucker for dystopias and politics/war stories. This one's so much more than that, though. [livejournal.com profile] blamebrampton's Draco is wonderful, and so believable, he makes me want to stand and cheer for him :) :) :)

So there you go, folks, the last of the fics! Hope you enjoyed them :)

And here's all the artsies that have been peppered through the stories, in two posts, one per artist:
  • Title: raitala's illustrations for the hp10k_showcase
    Artist: [livejournal.com profile] raitala
Characters: Draco (many), Harry, Narcissa, Teddy, Pansy, Ron (I know!), OCs
    Ratings: G - PG
    Warnings: None
Artist's Note: It has been great fun drawing for all these great fics. I would like to say a big thank you to all the people who made a special effort to mention my little drawings in your comments - I wasn't expecting that. It was very thoughtful of you all!

Congratulations and thanks to all the [livejournal.com profile] hp10k_showcase writers - you have put together a really great collection of stories for the HP community and raised some really thought-provoking issues. Thanks you for inviting me to come and play and for being brave and sharing early drafts with me. Extra thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sansa1970 and [livejournal.com profile] rickey_a for all your work organising the comm. ♥♥♥

I have been drawing to raise awareness of: Mental Health Issues

Excerpt: With You Or Without You

Rec: 12 pictures. Not dial-up friendly. Ever so worth it, though :D :D :D

  • Title: Oldenuf2b's hp10k_showcase art
    Artist: [livejournal.com profile] oldenuf2b
Characters: Harry, Draco, Luna, Susan Bones, Snape, Hermione
    Ratings: G-PG
    Warnings: None
    Artist's Note: As part of my participation in the [livejournal.com profile] hp10k_showcase, it was my honor and privilege to work with three of the talented authors, and very good friends, who wrote brilliant stories. I loved every bit of this, from getting to read their stories early, to being inspired by what they wrote to draw something after the showcase began. I know that there has already been lots of conversation about the showcase, but I merely want to add this;

The showcase was begun out of friendship, and shared experience. My mother used to say; "it'll take you five minutes, if you look, to find someone who's cross is heavier than yours". I don't know that any of us feel as if we bear crosses, but we've all had our challenges, and we all had issues that touched us, and moved us, and changed us. Whether we personally experienced the causes we highlighted, or were moved to want to help with them, the point it that it really has been about wanting to bring attention to something that mattered to us. Fandom is a wonderful, diverse, and accepting playground, and I, for one, am grateful to have found such a generous group of readers and watchers. Thank you, to all of you, for making this possible. That having been said, here's the arts!

I have been drawing and writing to raise awareness for: AIDS Prevention, Education and Research

    Excerpt: Founders' Ball

    Rec: 6 pictures. Truly lovely.
annafugazzi: (Default)
Hey! My turn!

So. Yeah. I, um, wrote Harry/Ron. ::gulp::

  1. Title: Guide those that through their councils
    Author: [livejournal.com profile] annafugazzi
    Pairings: Harry/Ron
    Rating: PG13
    Warnings: None
    Word Count: 7606
Summary: Harry's first time out of the British Isles left something to be desired. In fact, as the locals would say, so far it sucked.
Author's notes: Thanks so much to my betas, [livejournal.com profile] b00kaddict and [livejournal.com profile] tree00faery, and to the gang at [livejournal.com profile] hp10k_showcase, especially [livejournal.com profile] sesheta_66, [livejournal.com profile] rickey_a, [livejournal.com profile] blamebrampton, [livejournal.com profile] alisanne, [livejournal.com profile] marguerite_26, and [livejournal.com profile] snegurochka_lee. You rock!

I am writing to raise awareness for: Native/Aboriginal Issues

Excerpt: "You're on a different continent, Harry; enjoy the scenery."

The grassy ground was grey and dead, not yet recovered from the winter, and large chunks of dirty snow remained in the small dips and hollows all over the plateau. Lovely.

Rec: Yeeaah, notsomuch with the reccing of my own fics ;)
annafugazzi: (Default)
  1. Title: Between Conspirators
    Author: [livejournal.com profile] mahaliem
    Pairings: Harry/Draco
    Rating: R
    Warnings: None
    Word Count: 9894
Summary: Someone tries to recruit Draco to help kill Harry. Fortunately (?), Draco has a plan to stop the mysterious would-be assassin.
Author's notes: Sincere thanks to my wonderful and talented betas dolimir_k, myownghost, and fishsanwitt. Also, I owe a great deal of thanks for the incredible help and support I received from the other hp10k_showcase participants.

I am writing to raise awareness for: Diabetes
Illustrated by [livejournal.com profile] raitala, drawing to raise awareness of Mental Health Issues. The illustration is rated PG.

Excerpt: "Among those wishing revenge for the part you played in the war, oh so many years ago, the most likely culprit is my father. However, the handwriting's atrocious and the author rambles on, though I suppose Lucius could have been drunk at the time. But, seeing as there's no diatribe regarding your parentage, your bad posture, or your messy hair, I struck him from my list of suspects."

Rec: Draco at his bitchiest, flirtiest best. Harry at his well-meaning clueless best. And every bit character with a moment to shine. Perfect!

  2. Title: One Day It Will Please Us To Remember Even This
    Author: Geoviki
    Pairings: Harry/Draco
    Rating: PG-13
    Warnings: none
    Word Count: about 9,200
Summary: Secrets and imp magic make a bad combination, and Draco will never, ever forgive Blaise for any of this.
Author's notes: The title is a translation of a line from Virgil's Aenead: Forsan et haec olim meminisse iuvabit. It's also the title of the most recent album by the New York Dolls. Another ways to put it is: Someday we'll look back on this and laugh.

Many thanks to my beta, [livejournal.com profile] novembersnow, who did a great job of pointing out the weaknesses, even though I didn't give her much time. Thanks also to [livejournal.com profile] parthenia14 for the Britpicking.

I am writing to raise awareness for: Juvenile (Type 1) Diabetes, although this story isn't related to my cause.

Excerpt: "...Mother always taught me that an honest explanation covers a multitude of sins. But she also taught me that when honesty is too mortifying, the same thing can be said for a damned good lie."

Rec: Had to tell my kids "It would take too long to explain" several times while I was reading this. They kept wanting to know why Mama was giggling like a total idiot, especially during Draco's correspondence and the brilliant OC :D :D :D
annafugazzi: (Default)
  1. Title: Pour Faire un Choix/ To Make a Choice
    Author: [livejournal.com profile] oldenuf2nb
    Pairings: Harry/Draco
    Rating: R
    Warnings: EWE, Language, flangst, hurt/comfort
    Word Count: 9,601
Summary: Life is all about choices. Some, you can only make for yourself.
Author's notes: Thanks to my incredible beta team, [livejournal.com profile] sansa1970, [livejournal.com profile] amightypenguin, and [livejournal.com profile] eynhashofet. And to my darling [livejournal.com profile] sassy_cissa, for holding my hand and putting up with my whining when my muse repeatedly ran me into brick walls.
I am writing to raise awareness for: AIDS Prevention, Education, and Research

Excerpt: "Listen to me. I know that Ron and Hermione have made their feelings pretty clear. As, no doubt, have the Weasleys and everyone else. And am I a fan of Malfoy? Not particularly. He's improved a little, but he's still a right git. But when he looks at you, when you don't know that he's looking…" Neville shook his head, a sad smile pulling at his lips. "The man loves you."

Rec: This was lovely, though heartbreaking. I liked that I so totally thought I knew exactly where this fic was going - twice - and got it wrong both times.

And Neville? Is just totally made of awesome :) :) :)

  2. Title: Scenes From a Remarkable Marriage
    Author: [livejournal.com profile] sassy_cissa
    Pairings: Severus/Hermione, past Ron/Hermione
    Rating: PG-13
Warnings: AU, complete disregard for DH, character death (not Snape or Hermione), miscarriage
    Word Count: approx 8,600
Summary: To most people, Hermione Granger and Severus Snape were an unlikely couple. But Minerva McGonagall had been in a position to know them both well, and saw what others could not.
Author's notes: Thanks to my incredible beta team, [livejournal.com profile] eeyore9990 whose constant reassurance kept me writing and [livejournal.com profile] gabe_speaks whose red pencil I love to hate. Also to [livejournal.com profile] sansa1970 for her valuable opinion and to all the 10k showcase participants whose mere presence made me go outside my comfort zone and try something new. And gigantic thanks to [livejournal.com profile] oldenuf2nb - not only for holding my hand and listening to me whine about my sanity in writing this pairing for the first time, but for the fabulous art that absolutely makes this story come to life. Her cause is AIDS Awareness/Prevention/Research.

I am writing to raise awareness for: Organ and Tissue donation.
We are all familiar with the untimely death of Natasha Richardson. Just this week it was announced that her family requested for her organs be donated.

Organ donation...truly the gift of a lifetime.

Excerpt: "Well," he mused, lips twisting. "If there must be someone invading my lab, I should consider myself fortunate that Minerva found someone who knows what they're doing."

Granger was irritating, but she, unlike her little friends, had a fine mind.

Rec: OK, guilty secret? Much as I love DH-compliancy, I wistfully remember the days when we didn't know what the final confrontation was going to be like, and we could imagine all sorts of things: armies amassing, decades of conflict, one single combat, Muggles getting involved, secret missions, dystopias, whatever, all was fair game. There's (almost) no more of those being written any more, and that's too bad. But! This one! Disregards DH completely and takes you in a few totally new directions. Cool!

  3. Title: A Tale of Two Tents
    Author: [livejournal.com profile] who_la_hoop
    Pairings: Harry/Draco
    Rating: A strong PG-13
Warnings: Epilogue-compliant(ish!), much silliness, incompetent fist-fights and a distressing lack of jokes involving the words and phrases 'tent' 'your pocket' and 'or are you just pleased to see me'. I couldn't even fit in a pun on the word 'camp'. How rubbish am I?
Word Count: ~10,350 (alas, even when I try to write a short fic, I still can't get it to fit in one post! :D)
Summary: When Scorpius and Al take their parent's rivalry to a whole new level, Hogwarts is forced to intervene. Or, how Harry and Draco went camping, encountered mud, and managed to survive with all their limbs intact.
Author's notes: Thanks to the hp10k gang for being generally awesome and putting up with me, even though I have been more than usually AWOL of late. Thanks also to [livejournal.com profile] bryoneybrynn, whose prompt from ages back inspired this fic. Tragically, I actually made myself laugh a couple of times whilst writing this, so I hope you'll all laugh along with me <3

I am writing to raise awareness for: eating disorders – although my fic has nothing to do with the subject whatsoever, being about camping, mud and general mayhem :D

Excerpt: Harry looked at the tent. The tent failed to look back. It failed, in fact, to look like anything other than a tent – and a crap one at that.

Rec: I hate hate haaaate teambuilding exercises with a passion. This fic brought back so many memories of all the stupid pointless exercises I have been forced to undergo, and all the things I so dearly wish I could've said while being forced to undergo them :D :D :D
annafugazzi: (hp10k Aboriginal Awareness)
Hey! Check out my icon! Thank you thank you [livejournal.com profile] bryoneybrynn!

  1. Title: The Taste of Magic
    Author: [livejournal.com profile] romaine24
    Pairing:s: Harry/Draco, mention of Harry/OC
    Rating: R
    Warnings: EWE , Angst
    Word Count: 10,050
    Summary: Sometimes magic isn't enough.
Author's notes: Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] potteresque_ire for chopping with such a fine knife. [livejournal.com profile] eeyore9990 for the major beta job, and [livejournal.com profile] the_flic for the extra polish and britpicking. In addition, thank you C&C for all of your suggestions and honesty, and the hp10k gang for the final fixes. Thanks also goes to [livejournal.com profile] raitala who captured Harry in his predicament so perfectly. Partial lyrics from the theme song for Milton the Monster was used in this fic.

I am writing to raise awareness of: Environmental Issues (Reusable Bags)
Illustrated by [livejournal.com profile] raitala, drawing to raise awareness of Mental Health Issues. The illustration is rated G.

Excerpt: "And, Harry," McGonagall said, peering over the tops of her spectacles. "The portraits...the portraits as of this morning are still."

Harry's blood ran cold as he glanced up to see row upon row of heads bowed and eyes closed. They weren’t sleeping.

Rec: This was haunting. Lovely, and tough to read, and worked the issue into the story in a way that honestly would never have occurred to me in a million years.

    Beautiful.

  2. Title: Inconsolable, or How Harry Potter Stopped H8ing and Learned to Love Video Games
    Author: [livejournal.com profile] novembersnow
Pairing: Harry/Draco, secondary Harry/Ginny, tertiary Harry/Ron/Hermione (sort of)
    Rating: R
Warnings: epilogue compliance, somewhat facetious treatment of addiction-related issues, gratuitous bandom references, and utter ridiculousness
    Word Count: ~10,600
Summary: Harry Potter really sucks at video games. Draco Malfoy just sucks.
Author's Note: Grateful thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mizbean for her idea about why Draco initially played the game, [livejournal.com profile] supergrover24 for beta-reading (and letting me write her into it *g*), and all the vile enablers on my LJ who encouraged me to turn a one-note joke into a full-fledged fic. ;) Also, apologies to [livejournal.com profile] glockgal for borrowing her video game name from last year's April Fools Day celebration at Fiction Alley and to [livejournal.com profile] sarahtales for borrowing her nickname for Scorpius. I steal because I love!

I am writing to raise awareness of: Multiple Sclerosis

Excerpt: Next came violent, action-oriented titles based on Wizarding history: Goblin Wars Volumes I through XIII, Witch Burning!, Dumbledore vs. Grindelwald (a controversial hit owing to its homoerotic overtones).

Rec: Hee! This one mostly made me giggle - I was reading out bits to my (slightly annoyed) DH - but was also unexpectedly touching. You gotta love a fic that introduces Wiizards :D :D :D

  3. Title: Sly Quill
    Author: [livejournal.com profile] alisanne
Pairing:s: Draco/Harry. Other couples implied. Appearances by Ron and Luna.
    Rating: NC-17
    Warnings: None, EWE.
    Word Count: 9770
Summary: An anonymous person has been writing embarrassingly revealing articles. Harry goes on a quest to discover who the mystery reporter is, and in the end, discovers important things about himself.
Author 's notes: Many thanks to all the other Showcase participants who offered suggestions on this story, to the fabulous members of my writing groups, and to my beta readers, [livejournal.com profile] sevfan and [livejournal.com profile] eeyore9990, who caught my many errors and without whom this story would have been much less readable. Also, a heartfelt thank you to [livejournal.com profile] raitala, who provided the wonderful illustration of Narcissa.
This story is dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] the_minx_17.

I am writing to raise awareness of: The National Bone Marrow Registry (although this is not the subject of the story)
Illustrated by [livejournal.com profile] raitala, drawing to raise awareness of Mental Health Issues. Her illustration is rated G.

Excerpt: Is it true that Celestina Warbeck can be linked romantically to Minister Shacklebolt? Apparently so. In addition, a source tells me that the minister lives up to his name with the bedroom games he plays. All those years as an Auror have evidently made him appreciate the lure of bondage.

Rec: Felt like I'd been on a bit of a rollercoaster ride with this one - and a very funny one at that. And the Sly Quill bits are hysterical :D :D :D
annafugazzi: (Still waters run deep)
  1. Title: Founder's Ball
    Author: [livejournal.com profile] rickey_a
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco (and a dash of Luna/Susan on the side)
    Rating: R
Warning(s): None, unless you need to be warned for a smidge of Femmeslash
    Word Count: ~9930
Summary: Hogwarts has four houses and one representative from each is required for the rededication ceremony.
Author's Notes: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] eynhashofet for the beta of the very early and ugly rough draft and to the whole 10k gang for some extremely valuable additional beta work and concrit – all of you are a pleasure to work with and have fun with!

I am writing to raise awareness of: Autism Awareness
Illustrated by [livejournal.com profile] raitala, drawing to raise awareness of Mental Health Issues (Illustration is work safe) Thanks so much Rai, I love it!
ETA: [livejournal.com profile] oldenuf2nb has graciously illustrated the four new founders for us. If you haven't seen it yet, scroll to the end of the fic:)

Excerpt: "It has to be Malfoy," Luna said in her typical at-peace-with-the-universe tone. "Draco is Salazar to Harry's Godric. Yes, the Death Eaters killed and destroyed, so it will take one of them to repair the rift. You know, Godric and Salazar were great friends at one time."

Ron snorted loudly and said, "Until Slytherin wanted all the Muggleborns dead, built a chamber, and stuck a Basilisk in it."

Rec: One of the (only) things I prefer about the HP books to the fanfic is how JKR makes Hogwarts itself one of the characters. Fanfic doesn't tend to do that most of the time; the castle is a school building, nothing more. This piece puts Hogwarts front and centre and it's just lovely :) :) :)

And also, Draco? Very lovely as well ♥♥♥

  2. Title: Ember
    Author: [livejournal.com profile] alaana_fair
    Pairing: Harry/Draco
    Rating: R
    Warnings: EWE
    Word Count: ~9,800
Summary: Harry tells his story, even though the end has not yet been written.
Author's Note: Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] sesheta_66, [livejournal.com profile] ravenqueen55 and [livejournal.com profile] accioscar for beta and britpick! And to [livejournal.com profile] isinuyasha for her brilliant help with the letters. Also to everyone at [livejournal.com profile] hp10k_showcase for your invaluable feedback and advice. You are all made of win! I am greatly honoured to have been included in this project.

I am writing to raise awareness of: Gay Youth Advocacy.
Illustrated by [livejournal.com profile] raitala, drawing to raise awareness of Mental Health Issues.

Excerpt: "... But he stopped and studied me for, I don't know how long, before he held out his hand. It was odd. Like a flashback from when we were eleven, but something in his eyes was different. He wasn't the same snobby boy I'd met then. War and death have a way of changing people. Some for the worse, but some for the better. That one look told me more about Draco Malfoy than I'd ever known, and that time, unlike when I was eleven, I felt compelled to take his hand."

Rec: There's no similarity between this and Glass Half Full other than the fact that I really can't think of what to say about it except OMFG Read This. Tears in eyes at the ending, I swear.

No, OK, I can think of one thing to say. A lot of fanfic tends to assume the wizarding world is supremely accepting of same-sex relationships. I tend to think so too. But I love fics where that's not the case, if it's done well - or brilliantly, as here.

  3. Title: Retroversion (With or Without You)
    Author: [livejournal.com profile] melusinahp
    Pairing: Harry/Draco
    Rating: R
    Warnings: Dark, Backwards
    Word Count: 5k
Summary: Draco does his best to make Harry's birthday special.
Author's Note: So much love to [livejournal.com profile] marguerite_26, [livejournal.com profile] themostepotente, [livejournal.com profile] lusiology, and the hp_10k gang for their invaluable help with this.
I am writing to raise awareness of: Youth Homelessness in the United Kingdom
Illustrated by [livejournal.com profile] raitala, drawing to raise awareness of Mental Health Issues. The illustration is rated PG.

Excerpt: "I'm not in a mood." Draco sighed. He made himself breathe and smile. He just wanted everything to be perfect -- the wine, the food, the day -- perfect for Potter's birthday.

Rec: ::shivers:: Heed the dark warning here. And then read it. It's heartbreaking, but also quite exciting trying to figure out wtf is going on as the answer unfolds like a puzzle bit by backwards bit.
annafugazzi: (Still waters run deep)
  1. Title: A Winter's Tale of Blood and Duty
    Author: [livejournal.com profile] marguerite_26
    Pairing: Harry/Draco
    Rating: R
Warnings: dark themes, character death (not Harry or Draco).
    Word Count: ~8.7k
Summary: While Draco clings to the tattered remains of his family, Harry attempts to define himself in the post-war world. Disturbing events at Malfoy Manor bring them together.
Author's Note: Many thanks to my betas [livejournal.com profile] vaysh11, [livejournal.com profile] silenceofcedars, [livejournal.com profile] melusinahp, and [livejournal.com profile] sansa1970. And thank you to the other Showcase participants and the writers at I.Smith for your helpful feedback and suggestions. ♥
I am writing to raise awareness of: Breast Cancer Research
Illustrated by [livejournal.com profile] raitala, drawing to raise awareness of Mental Health Issues. The illustration is rated PG.

Excerpt: "Mrs. Malfoy, I don't see what –"

"Please, let me finish and trust that I did not invite the saviour of the wizarding world into my confidence in order to get marriage counselling."

Rec: :) :) :) This is lovely. I love peeking inside the Malfoys' home and family life, and although this is rather a heartbreaking look, it feels real. Like this is exactly how they would each react to something going badly wrong.
And Harry's unenviable position is incredibly refreshing. No offense to the lovely Scottish lady in whose garden we all play, but I can't be the only person who thought, "Oh really?" when she stated that Harry and Ron had been recruited straight after the war without even doing their NEWTs.

  2. Title: Glass Half Full
    Author: [livejournal.com profile] pir8fancier
    Pairing: Ron/Pansy
    Rating: R
Warnings: Sustance abuse, filthy language, lots of smoking references
    Word Count: 10,047
Summary: Twenty years after the battle at Hogwarts, it's not happily ever after.
Author's Note: I received lots of help from the lovely participants of [livejournal.com profile] hp10k_showcase, with some additional expertise from [livejournal.com profile] eynhashofet and the incomparable [livejournal.com profile] regan_v.

I am writing to raise awareness for Alcoholism.
Illustrated by [livejournal.com profile] raitala drawing to raise awareness of Mental Health Issues

Excerpt: Terrified didn't even begin to describe it. Ron Weasley had faced Voldemort, had dueled Lucius Malfoy and Bellatrix Lestrange, had told his mother that Fred hadn't survived the siege, and had spent the last twenty years as an Auror. It all paled in comparison to raising up his head and opening his eyes to face the group in that room.

    Rec: ... I can't.
This fic hits so hard and is so painful and honest and real it left me speechless. Just. Read it. Seriously. Don't miss this one. ::wanders off, still somewhat dazed::

  3. Title: The Thread Measurer's Apprentice
    Author: [livejournal.com profile] sansa1970
    Pairing: Harry/Draco
    Rating: PG
    Word Count: ~9,000
Summary: A mysterious letter saves Scorpius' life. When Draco discovers who sent the warning, a most unusual partnership is born.
Author's Note: Many thanks to my invaluable beta readers: [livejournal.com profile] empathic_siren, [livejournal.com profile] secretsolitaire, [livejournal.com profile] calanthe_fics, and the HP10K writers. They turned a jumble of thoughts into something readable.

I am writing to raise awareness of: Planned Parenthood
Illustrated by: [livejournal.com profile] raitala, drawing to raise awareness of Mental Health Issues, and [livejournal.com profile] oldenuf2nb, raising awareness for AIDS Research and Prevention. (Both illustrations are PG.)

Excerpt: "Draco Malfoy." Ginny finished drying her hands, but didn't offer one in greeting. "I believe 'I'll be back when Kneazles fly' were your parting words last time you stood on my doorstep." She edged forward and glanced up. "How do the little buggers look with wings?"

Rec: This is so incredibly bizarre! And yet it works, so very well. Left me with such a wide and yet bemused smile on my face.
annafugazzi: (Feed me soup)
The Path of Least Resistance, by [livejournal.com profile] snegurochka_lee.
Pairings: Teddy/Albus Severus. Past unrequited Teddy/James. Appearances by Harry and Luna.
Rating: R
Warnings: Substance abuse. Grieving after a major character death. Albus is 18.
Word count: 10,900
Summary: Teddy had been clean for barely thirteen weeks the night Albus landed on his doorstep, reminding him of everything he'd tried to leave behind. It's hard to mourn a loss when you can barely acknowledge it's happened. It's even harder when you think you're responsible for it.
Note: [livejournal.com profile] snegurochka_lee is writing to raise awareness of The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada (although this is not the subject of the fic!)
Illustrated by [livejournal.com profile] raitala, drawing to raise awareness of Mental Health Issues. The illustration is rated PG.

So, remember when I said I read a fic that made me want to respond with "Don't change a single thing, this is freaking perfect as is?" Yeah, here it is. It's beautiful and painful and incredibly real, and the characters are so complex and genuine it's...

Go. Read.

  • Just got back a notice from Canadian Blood Services informing me I'm on their bone marrow donor list :)

  • For your viewing and snickering pleasure: Flight of the Conchords' Business Time, concert version and show version.

Aaw, yeah. Girl, tonight we're gonna make love, you know how I know? Because it's Wednesday, and Wednesday night is the night that we usually make love. Tuesday night is the night that we usually go to your mother's place and I teach her how to use the video machine again, but Wednesday night is the night that we're makin' love...

  • Also, the WiP meme was great, and I had a lot of fun reading other people's posts and trying to imagine the fics that went with the bitlets they posted. For my own part, though, it left me both amused, flattered, and a bit flustered, because after I got a few comments I decided that I'd just work on the one that people commented on... but then y'all commented on almost all of them :D :D :D And one of the ones nobody commented on is one of the closest to being postable. ::le sigh:: I did end up moving one of them from a probably-never-be-finished fic to a straining-to-get-out-the-gate one, so that's something, I guess ;)

The PSAs continue on [livejournal.com profile] hp10k_showcase!

Also, there's this meme that's gone around where you ask people to comment and say five things they associate with you. I hadn't thought of doing it, because I don't post all that much other than fic and recs onto this lj, but then I got curious. So, if anyone's interested, go ahead. Post five things you associate with me, and I'll elaborate on them :)

The PSAs are still going on over at [livejournal.com profile] hp10k_showcase, with the following posts:

As an aside, I clicked on one of the links on [livejournal.com profile] alisanne's post when she posted the first draft of her entry. Don't remember which one... probably the international donor link. Found the link for Canada, filled out a form, and then a few days later a nice lady contacted me and took more information over the phone. A little while after that, I got a kit in the mail. Sent it in yesterday and when it gets to them, I'll be a registered bone marrow donor :)

It was easy. It could save a life. Do it.
