  • Started to do the "Fics Written in 2008" meme. Can't find my post now. The hell?

  • So I started this George/Angelina fic (shut up), didn't know if I would go on with it, but am now pretty sure I will. I need a new title, though, because right now its working title is Georgelina, which is simply not on. Suggestions?

  • [livejournal.com profile] daily_snitch is looking for fics/art with Lee Jordan as the main character. Squee! I see [livejournal.com profile] iamshadow's fic is already there, as is [livejournal.com profile] maple_mahogany's, and my own wonderful [livejournal.com profile] weasley_fest giftfic from [livejournal.com profile] loony4lupin and [livejournal.com profile] madeyemax. And! A fic from [livejournal.com profile] silentauror that I haven't even read yet! ::squeeee!:: I also added in [livejournal.com profile] vanseedee's George/Lee prompt table, but can't find a piece of art, possibly by [livejournal.com profile] kath_ballentyne, called (I think) Vulnerable. It's George/Lee.

    ?

Also, if you have any other Lee fic/art suggestions, go here.

  • I was sooo proud of myself for not signing up for [livejournal.com profile] hds_beltane or [livejournal.com profile] hd_worldcup! So very proud of myself, because fun as they both were last year, and sweetly as they both called my name this year, every night, whispering, "Do it, sign up, you want to dooooo it!" I remained firm.

So you can imagine my dismay when I got an e-mail asking if I wanted to sign up for [livejournal.com profile] hp10k_showcase, took about two seconds to think, and then signed up. ::facepalm::

It's different, though. It's not a fest, it's not an exchange, there are no prompts. And it's for short fics only (less than 10,000 words). And it's to raise awareness of various issues. I'm doing Native/Aboriginal Awareness.

  • BTW, I think [livejournal.com profile] hd_worldcup is all done with sign-ups (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) and [livejournal.com profile] hds_beltane is all full up for fics, but there's still room for artist sign-ups.

  • [livejournal.com profile] vanseedee put up the Epilogue to her George/Lee prompt table. It's wonderful, and sad, and also bloody godawful because it means no more parts to this story :(

  • Had a list of other stories I wanted to link to, and also can't find it. It's probably with the 2008 fics post. ::sigh::

Oh, is that why I got someone randomly commenting on Run To You? I was a bit perplexed. It's not exactly a new story.

Hee. Yeah. And you'll probably be getting a few more comments once [livejournal.com profile] daily_snitch posts its Lee edition :)

I signed up for both of them 'cause I need to force myself to keep going!

and I need to get these stupid H/D plots out of my head!!!

I was looking at the 10kshowcase, but I don't know how I'd do it. ;_;
I will read and cheer-lead, though!!! ^_^

Yaaay!

Feel like a bit of a hypocrite for wanting all my fave writers & artists to sign up to stuff I won't sign up for myself, but there you.

and I need to get these stupid H/D plots out of my head!!!
...and onto our screens!

Yeah, it's all writing, it looks like. For this year, at least. But it sounds really cool anyway :) :)

Oh, no there are some pretty amazing artists on that list, too.

I think it's all HD, though, and all Rock Stars. And I'm just not very well-known yet.

I might do my own thing, though. It's inspiring, and I have my own personal banner to wave, too.

Oh so there are! Hadn't thought to look for them.

LOL! That means I'm a Rock Star!
Not how they made up the list, but I'm pretty sure it was just the first few people they thought of that they'd worked with before, not necessarily the most well-known. I do know that they didn't want it to be too big, because they didn't think people would want to read through 75 PSA blurbs.

I might do my own thing, though. It's inspiring, and I have my own personal banner to wave, too.
Awesome!

Hmmm, the art's not mine.
Ohh I know the one. It was the beautiful art by [livejournal.com profile] reallycorking for Maple's Glass Onion series. Yep, it's called Vulnerable but the page for it on Corks art comm doesn't have the picture Vulnerable. No idea what happened.

Thank you thank you for the link!!

I could've sworn it was yours. I have the memory of a goldfish. ::sigh::

Have you done George/Lee? Or any Lee?

*g* I have a shocking memory too.

I did a George/Lee pretty early on, the end of the year before last.
I've been meaning to re-do it because I've got a lot better and so has my computer so I could do it proper size this time but haven't got to it yet.

It was before I started tagging properly but... here it is.

It's my only Lee right now though I do have another George/Lee in the works but I've got a few things in the queue before then.

I did a couple of Ron/Kingsley and a Dean/Seamus but that's the only Lee.

Awww, thank you for the rec.

I just read your George/Angelina and I loved it. So bittersweet but still hopeful. And so much love for finding humour at Fred's funeral.

It's hard to find a title when it's not finished yet. I'd go with something that conveys the general feel to the story. And now I'm fishing in very muddy waters, as I don't know where it will go. But I'm guessing - feel free to correct me - that it's going to be a bumpy road with a bittersweet but hopeful ending? They both wouldn't give up after all.

So maybe something like 'To die for' which is very direct because it sets Fred's death in the center.
Or rather something that sounds bitter at first but is more sincere as the story proceeds like 'And all was well.'
Or something abstract but mildly philosophical like 'Sad ends in happy places' (I know that this one sucks big time, it's just an example.)

Okay. I can see virtual people looking strangely at me. I'll stop now and go looking for food. *waves*

Bitterness is a big part of it, so yeah, that might work rather well.

I was also thinking of "Unhealthy" or something with the word unhealthy, from Rowling's comment that GW/AJ was "maybe it's a bit unhealthy, but I think that they would've been happy."

Or something abstract but mildly philosophical like 'Sad ends in happy plac

Okay. I can see virtual people looking strangely at me. I'll stop now and go looking for food. *waves*
LOL!!

Thanks for the feedback, and the suggestions!

Ha ha, I'm hearing quite a few people struggling with fest-pressure. Good on you for remaining firm (lovely as it is to read your work, of course!).

I'd not heard of hp10k_showcase before, I wonder how it will turn out. It will be different reading fics with a cause. Out of curiosity, is the aboriginal awareness prompt refering indiginous groups in general, or Australian aboriginals?

Yeah I wonder too. It's the first time they've done it, but it sounds like a great idea to me.

It's Aboriginal peoples in general. Although if my fic is Aboriginal-themed (they don't have to have anything to do with the issue we're raising awareness for (I know, never end a sentence with a preposition)) it'll probably have a Canadian bent, since that's what I know best. And I'll remind myself to be careful not to use the abbreviation Abo! My Aboriginal Issues in Common Law prof said she got in trouble with that at one point. Used it innocently (I think she e-mailed a friend that she'd be "teaching Abo Law next term") and had no idea it was considered intensely derogatory in Australia. Eeep!

Eee, I hope you like it! :) I was always fond of it - it's set in the House with a White Picket Fence universe as a side-along story, if I may. :P It's also the only story in my entire "canon" (lol) set in Canada, specifically in my home province. :)
