Feeling skeevy about my music sharing place, but not, apparently, skeevy enough to move. Yet. So, anybody out there who's bored and feels like listening to choral music, could you take a listen at these two versions of the same song? It's Blake's Jerusalem, and I can't figure out which version I want to keep. The version I really like is from the Chariots of Fire soundtrack, but it has weird Vangelis-timpani-cowbell stuff at the beginning, so I can't use that.

ETA: OMFG I am too stupid to live some days.

After three people commented that both versions sounded very similar, I took a closer look and discovered why. I had two versions; only linked to one. Twice.

I have both linked to now. Aaaaaaaaaaaarg.

I'm not sure how alike these two versions are meant to be, but I'm struggling to hear any difference.

Not sure what exactly you want this for, but I must compliment your choice of music/poem, it's one of my favourites. It couldn't even be killed by studying Blake for A-level English Literatue, which is a pretty good achievement!

In case anybody's still speaking to me after me wasting their time with this, here are both versions (for real this time):

Thank you! I loved the song when I was a kid, as it was part of Chariots of Fire and that was one of my fave movies ever, but really fell in love with it this year when we sang it in our first rehearsal for Last Night of the Proms. It's just so very British.

I have to agree with your first commenter that I really can't discern much difference between the two versions. They are both beautiful. What a lovely song!

I'm with the other two. It sounds like the same version repeated.

Hmm. . . Going into it, I would have said I would be predisposed to the first (being more familiar after listening to it twice). I do like the first.

But. I think I like the second better. I like how the upper registers ring clearer. I think it's just sopranos, but it sounds almost like a children's choir joining the adults. In any case, it lends that ethereal sound that is so fitting.

Also, the sound on it second is generally clearer. The first is slightly muddy (whether from venue or sound board/mixing).

Don't fuss over the mix up. I manage to be distracted enough to do that sort of thing way to frequently.

Yeah, I think I prefer the second two. They are pretty similar, but the first sounds... I dunno, tinnier or something.

I like version 2 better.

Would you like a Billy Bragg version?

Yeah, I think I do too.

Billy Bragg? Ooooohh!!

Also, your icon? Heee!!

Both versions are nice, but I like the second one better. Maybe it's just the mixing, but the parts are clearer in the second one, and in my opinion prettier.

I think I'm going with two as well. I've heard them both too many times, but I think the first sounds less resonant or something.

Oh I like the second one best.
Oh I wish I could put these songs on my i-pod....
