As an aside, I clicked on one of the links on alisanne's post when she posted the first draft of her entry. Don't remember which one... probably the international donor link. Found the link for Canada, filled out a form, and then a few days later a nice lady contacted me and took more information over the phone. A little while after that, I got a kit in the mail. Sent it in yesterday and when it gets to them, I'll be a registered bone marrow donor :)

It was easy. It could save a life. Do it.

They won't take mine, for the same reason they won't take my blood. Damn fools.

Really? I can't give blood because I pass out whenever I try, and I had a transfusion four years ago, but when I told them that they said bone marrow donation was OK. Don't know what other reasons Canadian Red Cross does/doesn't accept blood donations, but I thought those were two big ones.

American Red Cross won't accept donations from any man who has had sex with another man at any time since 1975. Bone marrow is restricted on the same basis.
