Sooooo wish I'd gone to Ascendio. Instead, I've been boiling away in Ottawa. At least Florida is supposed to be stunningly hot, right?

Yeah, so, I wrote this a about six months not long ago for [livejournal.com profile] hd_holidays, posted it to other sites but completely forgot to post it onto my lj after reveals were up ::facepalm:: ::loses at e-life::

Happily, [livejournal.com profile] hpfanficfanpoll recently informed me that it had been nominated in the "BEST STORY PLOT - ALTERNATE UNIVERSE" category, so here I go, finally posting it!

It's a small fest this year, but it's off to a good start:

  1. It's Never Good To Drink on the Job!
Medium: Fabric, thread, carpet tread, buttons, sharpie.
    Pairings/Characters: Hagrid/Severus
    Rating: R

    A/N: Anyone recognize George's shirt? ;)

I love this fest. The variety of art media is just awesome, for one thing. IIRC, one year there was an entry made entirely out of cheese.

Also, the second entry so far? MINE!!

If anyone can figure out the significance of George's shirt, I'd love you forever. I keep thinking I should be able to puzzle it out but for the life of me I just can't get it.

So I got curious about The Hunger Games, and whether or not there was any slashfic for Peeta/Gale. Fanfiction.net? Yeah, let's start there.

Put in a search.

Below are the first sixteen matches. (Titles not included, as that seems mean, plus for all I know they may be wonderful stories if you actually, you know, read them.)

1. Summary contains a missing possessive apostrophe, then/than confusion, loose/lose confusion, possessive apostrophe where none belongs, another missing apostrophe.
2. Their/there confusion.
3. Trite title, summary even worse.
4. Summary warns "My first Fan Fiction so it might suck."
5. Summary poses the burning question, What if it wasn't Katniss who went to the Games, but somebody else? Warning: OFC!
6. Summary consists entirely of two- and three-word sentences.
7. Summary contains the phrase "various dark sensual pleasures." Eurgh.
8. Summary contains the word "loverboys."
9. Summary contains a misuse of quotation marks, and ends with, "and yeah its gay."
10. Mpreg. Who's the Daddy? Peeta or Gale?
11. Title so wildly offputting I debated putting it here anyway as the sole reason I couldn't read it. Decided not to, as the summary contained the phrase, "Might keep writing - read to find out more!"
12. Two grammatical errors in the summary.
13. Reference to anime, "Please read and response!"
14. Summary contains the words, "...by none other than a certain [character description]!"
15. Rhetorical questions in the summary, "rating will be high for slash."
16. Summary spelled "Summery."

...

Never mind.
annafugazzi: (Yuck)
The Hunger Games. Actually, the movie - what I saw of it - was awesome. Unfortunately the handheld cam on Imax at the front of the theatre nauseated me to the point that I had to close my eyes for about a third of it, and ended up puking halfway through :(
annafugazzi: (Draco)
First and most important, OMG thank you all so much for the blue dragons! And the free time :D :D :D

Second, this is just gorgeous:

Aaaw, thank you so much, [livejournal.com profile] crazyparakiss, [livejournal.com profile] rickey_a, [livejournal.com profile] ura_hd, [livejournal.com profile] kitty_fic, [livejournal.com profile] vaysh11, [livejournal.com profile] taradiane, [livejournal.com profile] zebrui, [livejournal.com profile] neptuneschild1, [livejournal.com profile] nenne, and [livejournal.com profile] symetric, for the lovely lovely glass hearts :D :D :D

Has it really been over a month since I last posted here? ::boggles::

::head scritch::

Should do something about that. Will. As soon as I've finished editing something that's taking me freaking forever to edit.

Random fact: I had no idea that the little kid from Billy Elliot was the British slave in The Eagle. B'zuh?

Also, I want a pet dinosaur.

ETA: Oh! I remember what I keep meaning to ask! Does anybody know how to get one of those weird lj user heads? Like the ones [livejournal.com profile] kitty_fic, [livejournal.com profile] vaysh11, [livejournal.com profile] taradiane, [livejournal.com profile] zebrui, and [livejournal.com profile] nenne have?

Okay, here's the last huge table of "Hello, rumours of the death of H/D fandom have been greatly exaggerated", AKA the H/D Holidays Fest! Our apparently moribund fandom spawned ~1,337,188 words and 26 pieces of art, and honestly I cannot say I've ever read a more consistently excellent fest in terms of the work produced. Story after story after story that left me speechless (and also review-less... gotta go fix that!!) and the art was... wow. Holy cow.

Anyway, reveals go up January 14th. So go. Read. Love.

Beware Hugest Table )

Once again, quick reference table for those who find this useful. My lovely, lovely gift is in red font, but only because I couldn't figure out how to make sparkly 3D font with hearts pouring out all over the place.

Beware Huge Table )
annafugazzi: (Draco)
Title: In Dreams
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco, Harry/Ginny, Harry/OFC, Draco/Blaise and Ron/Hermione
Summary: When the simple act of opening the front door plunges you into the depths of a political conspiracy, you know you should have stayed in bed.
Rating: R-NC-17ish.
Disclaimer: All Harry Potter characters herein are the property of J.K. Rowling and Bloomsbury/Scholastic. No copyright infringement is intended.
Warning(s): Character death (not the main pairing!)
Epilogue compliant? For a split second, and then never again - EWE
Word Count: 37,500 give or take a few adjectives
Author's Notes: Oh, dear me! I hope you enjoy this annafugazzi. With deep thanks to J and H for the beta – any remaining errors are due entirely to my own carelessness :P

I love this, and I haven't even finished it.

::dusting off HTML skillz::

OK, I haven't done one of these in ages, so here goes. Here's the first ten days of this year's H/D Holidays. I have read/seen very little, but what I have seen has been totally amazing so far. As in, wow, this is why Harry/Draco is still my OTP, despite my deep ongoing love for Harry/Ron, George/Lee, and various canon het and fanon slash pairings.

Beware Huge Table )

  • Cheers to all the Americans celebrating Thankful Turkey Day. My personal thoughts of gratitude during American Thanksgiving have to do with being thankful for the fact that our (Canadian) Thanksgiving comes quite a bit earlier in the year. Sure, we get plunged into icy temperatures and winter gloom a lot faster, but it's almost made up for by the fact that by the time Christmas rolls around, we don't still have leftover turkey stuffing in the fridge ;)

Then again, you guys get a four-day weekend. I guess the calendar gods giveth, and the calendar god taketh away ;)

  • The request: I have this fic. Harry/Draco. Rather long. Would anybody be interested in helping beta it? I'm looking for pretty much anything: someone to read the whole thing and give general impressions, someone to do deep massage beta on ten random pages, someone to scan over and point out I've misspelled Dumbledore, someone to pick apart every word, someone to thwap me with the pointy stick of "take out this entire section, it's nothing but babbling crap" - pretty much anything would be welcome.

  • Awww, I got anonylove :D :D :D

  • And before that I got spiders for Halloween :D :D :D

  • ♥ ♥ ♥

  • Nothing like the warm fuzzies you get when you get love despite being pretty much MIA forever. Can't quite believe it's been almost two months since the last time I posted. Between finishing my articles and getting my black belt and writing for [livejournal.com profile] hd_holidays, RL has been kicking my butt something fierce. Very much hoping to be more present now that that's all over.

  • HPDH2 is out! And I don't have it in my hand yet! Why is this?!

  • ...there was something else I was going to post about, but it's gone. ::sigh::
