I should soooo be in bed by now...

... but instead I'm here. To share a few quick blips:
And now, I'm off to bed.
hds_beltane is still accepting sign-ups. This fest is where Volunteers got started last year, so it has a special place in my heart.
- Finally sent the latest chapter of Ember to Ember to beta!
If anyone's holding their breaths for the update, though... please don't. It was in really rough shape when I sent it toscrtkpr. If she can get it back to me in less than two weeks, she's a saint. And a genius. 'Cause I know I'd kinda throw my hands up in the air and wail a bit if I got something like that to beta. ::sigh::
hd_worldcup has started! And I'm deeply immersed in school, and cannot participate in my team's discussions yet. 'Sokay, though, I'll be done on Wednesday. I'm planning on taking whatever prompt nobody else wants anyway; they're all cool, and I love the challenge of writing something I totally would never think of writing in a million years.
- Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl is an incredibly awesome movie. I liked the two sequels too, but every time I see the first one I get floored by the awesome all over again. It's got so many just dead-on perfect scenes. And of course, Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom. And Keira Knightley, who, although she is not on my admittedly rather short list of "If I went that way, I'd go her way," is still very very cool :)
- You know the part in Order of the Phoenix where Hermione explains Cho's feelings to Harry and Ron, and Ron says, "One person couldn't feel all of that!" and Hermione says, "Just because you have the emotional depth of a teaspoon!" You know that part?
Well, when you watch the French dubbed version (as I did, with my kids - hey, it was for home schooling, they do French) she says, "C'est parce-que toi, t'as la capacité d'émotion d'un fromage!"
"Because you have the same emotional capacity as cheese!"
And now, I'm off to bed.

So I, um, ended up taking two weeks after all. But totally not your fault!!

Definitely, definitely worked. ;)

Date: 2008-01-24 08:00 am (UTC)For me the funniest French HP moment was in GOF, during the First Task when Hermione yells at Harry to use his wand. 'Cause the French word for wand is "baguette."
"Ta baguette, Harry! Ta BAGUEEEEETTE!!"
Ooh! And yes, hds_beltane should be a good one this year, huh? :] Are you thinking of doing it again, possibly?
Nearly broke my heart, but I had to force myself to not sign up. I had fully expected to, but there's just too much going on in RL right now, and will be until at least September. ::sigh::
I am one of the pinch hitters, though. So who knows, at the last minute, I may be able to write something.

Date: 2008-01-21 04:04 pm (UTC)I actually just watched the first Pirates movie again last night. ^_^ I definitely agree with you about the awesome scenes. I think my favorite is... well, never mind. The whole movie is my favorite scene.
^_^ Can't wait for the next chapter of Ember to Ember. I'm sure it's not as horrible as you think it is.

Heh, from your lips to the Muse's ears ;)
I just got rather frazzled over parts that refused to gel. Hopefully once I get it back I will have some distance from it and be able to tell the good stuff from the crapola.
emotional depths compare :)
Date: 2008-01-21 06:49 pm (UTC)And (just wondering about the first mind-hitting images)- I can understand the English version with a teaspoon seeing that tea is supposed to be all English-traditional, I could understand France and frommage, but - a toothpick??? Russia???
