  • Not In the Hands of Boys, Not In the Hands of Boys, Not In the Hands of Boys, by [livejournal.com profile] fourth_rose. It has updated, updated, updated. Squeee!!

  • And! Another one of my favourite WIPs, despite its hetness, updated! The Politician's Wife, by [livejournal.com profile] pir8fancier. HG/DM. Someday - they're not there yet, but oh the trip is a total, snarkalicious blast :) :) :)

  • The Boy Who Lives, by [livejournal.com profile] iamshadow
Summary: Harry comes to realise the repercussions of an important decision.
Warnings: Angst. Violence. Self-harm and attempted suicide. And unrelenting grimness. And OMG so good!

  • And speaking of [livejournal.com profile] iamshadow, her post-DH Harry/Ron Teapot-verse, which started with Miss Him, is now up to chapter 35. Yes, 35, Experimentation (NC-17 *eg*). They're 35 chapters but they're relatively short and many of them are more like standalones than chapters, so it's not much like a WiP, for those of you who don't like that kind of thing. In fact, I think the first five or so chapters weren't even planned to be part of anything longer; they just kinda started looking that way.

In any case, go read. It's quite lovely. Must admit, I squeal loudly whenever I see she's updated :) :) :)

  • OK, not just recs. I'm trying to decide between two songs for Ember to Ember, and can't quite manage it. They're Christmas-like and spiritual-like, and I like them both when my choir sings them, but the recordings I've got... meh. They're nice, but I can't listen to them without thinking My choir doesn't do that cheesy part, ugh!

    Praise His Holy Name

The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy

Anyway, I can't decide which one to use. If anybody wants to download them and give me a shout re. which one they prefer, I'd appreciate it.

Oh, and re their context: they're sung by Draco's grown-up choir during a Christmas concert. And no, I don't think he'd much like either one, but as he's not the director, he'd just have to roll his eyes and paste on a smile, act all enthused, and hope like hell the director doesn't ask them to clap and sway during the performance ;)

Yeah...gospel is not exactly his style. You should see my group try to clap and sway AND sing at the same time...they're not exactly rhythmically adept.

I went back and listened to your MP3. I slow it down to about 1/2 to 2/3 that speed for a real funky, 'down and dirty' gospel sound.

LOL yeah, my choir is mostly made up of middle-aged Ontarian Aryans. And our choir director loves African-inspired music - we even have a Black History Month concert every February - but sometimes it seems like Rhythm is refusing to have anything to do with us, just on principle.

Ooh, I should try to figure out how to do that...

Sorry to be confusing, I slow my CHOIR down for a funkier sound. I heard Anton Armstrong's choir at an ACDA convention in Chicago and they sang it slower.

I don't know if you CAN slow down MP3s..
