Happy Thanksgiving, Canadians!

Happy Sunday/Monday, everyone else :)
Here's two things I am thankful for lately, one for each of my favourite pairings. Well... one for two of my favourite pairings, as I have seen no new Glee lately. If anyone else has, point me to it? Pls?

- HP/DM:
fourth_rose is on chapter 32 of Not in the Hands of Boys. I had gone away from it for a while, since my RL and
fourth_rose's rate of posting were at odds - not a dig against her at all, but at my bloody RL ::stabbity:: - so I got to read a whooole lot of chapters all at once and fell into a delighted swoon. Damn, this story's good. It's such a totally believable segue to DH (if you block out the Epilogue and say "Lalalala I can't hear you!" when it taps you on the shoulder.) Harry's attitude towards his future employment is just beautiful. And the wizarding world's attitude towards him… ::shiver:: yeah. Believable.
Also: I can't wait for Harry and Ginny to get back together! (::ducking, running, in casefourth_rose is reading this::)
- HP/RW: Anticipation and anticipatory sadness:
iamshadow's lovely Teapot series is coming to an end. ::sigh:: It's beautiful. It's funny. It's angsty. It's hot. And it'll be done as of Wednesday. If you haven't read it and are a little intimidated by the number of chapters (51, BTW) don't be. They're fairly short chapters, and they go by in a flash. Unfortunately.

Date: 2008-10-13 03:48 am (UTC)Anyways, it's not Thanksgiving here, but if it were, and I was being thankful for fic (which I am), I think I would have to list the exact same two stories you have, and for pretty much the same reasons as you.
I would probably also list your fic (all of it), which continues to make me very happy whenever I have time to reread it, or when I make my friends read more of it. I've recently convinced some Bond fans to read Volunteers and Ember to Ember, which is pretty awesome. Now I can squee about it in real life to real people I know, as opposed to just online. ^_^
I'm quite bored and sort of hyper (I also had sugar cereal an hour ago, for about the first time...ever), which is probably why this comment continues to grow.

Hee! And also, ::blush:: Thanks!

Date: 2008-10-13 07:14 am (UTC)Thanks, love. I hope the ending, once it's posted, satisfies people. The final scene in particular I've had planned since very early on, and it's what I've been aiming for for a long time now.

The rest of the story has been amazing. I can't imagine the ending not satisfying. Especially considering how everything has flowed so wonderfully and naturally so far.
::hugs::

*g* No need to - it was just a stupid teen fantasy, after all :))
I can't wait for Harry and Ginny to get back together!
I was about to reply, "Hey, don't give my super-sekkrit plan away!", but then I remembered that one should probably not joke about these matters any more after the ending of The Fic Which Must Not Be Named ;)
Besides, commenters seem to have given up in that regard. Instead, someone just asked me to make Harry the Head of Slytherin House because they haven't been able to find a story about that. I'm still wondering where in my fic header it says Choose your own adventure!...

Date: 2008-10-13 02:50 pm (UTC)WTF?
People are so rude, sometimes.
I wrote a sort of trio fic last year (Harry was gay, Ron bisexual, Hermione straight) and got this comment: You really need to make a piece that addresses how Harry relates to Hermione, after all she is the one who stuck with him through thick, thin and not so sure. And, it would be nice to see the full trio dynamic together. Just a thought.
Considering I'd spent the whole story talking about the dynamic between them, and how, though close, Harry and Hermione's relationship wasn't a sexual one, my basic reaction on my journal to my friends was, 'Way to miss the point!' (My response to her was more diplomatic.)

Not that I'm against Triofics, but damn. Like you said, way to miss the point!

LOL! Which, I maintain, was the most perfect handling of the Crapilogue I have ever seen. Not that I actually dislike the Crapilogue - in fact, I love it, and only in part because my eight-year-old considers it the finest piece of literature ever written. But it does make H/D (or H/R, for that matter) a little inconvenient. I think I grinned like an idiot for about an hour after reading your take on it :D :D :D

::snicker:: Although I feel like I'm missing something, because I'm thinking of at least two fics that could be labelled that, based on the ending. ?

::snort:: Oh and while you're at it, could you make sure Draco and Neville have a one-nighter? Preferably with Blaise setting it up. Oh damn, they've all left school. Well, maybe they all end up at the Leaky one night. And Harry has to be there too, under his Invisibility Cloak, so he can see Draco getting it on with another guy and get all hot and bothered. And then...
No, on second thought, don't write that. I think I've just found my hd_hols plotbunny ;)

I'm a bit reluctant to name the fic because I don't want to spoil you in case you haven't read it and are still planning to - it was a long WIP by a popular author that pretty much everyone expected to end with H/D, but the author gave the story a H/G ending that many readers found surprising, to put it mildly. Therefore, I guess I'd better say outright that Ginny will stay safely with the dragons in Romania in my fic... (although if FA keeps it up, I might still decide to get her eaten by one ;))

*g* Sounds good to me! (And no worries, my hd_hols fic is already submitted *smug*) ;))

Date: 2008-10-13 05:01 pm (UTC)Seriously though, have you read NITHOB? Or was it you who was waiting for it to be done/solidly H/D before getting to it? (And why does that last sentence sound ungrammatical?)

Date: 2008-10-13 05:22 pm (UTC)Doh, too bad.
that might sound harsh, but if a fic is labelled h/d and it takes 30 chapters or more to finally get to the h/d [which might materialize in the last chapter for all we know], that is beyond the limit of my patience since i don't read het or gen fic.
Well, you really are missing out on a wonderful fic, but I can totally sympathize. I often feel like I'm missing out on some excellent fic because Snape rather squicks me, but oh well. Fic is supposed to be a hobby, after all. I'm not going to force myself to read something that doesn't interest me just because other people insist it's worth it - even though almost every time I've done so, I've totally fallen in love with the fic (to wit, Snape: Home Fries Nazi).
Oh and not that this makes any difference, but NITHOB isn't actually H/G at all, despite what one of
